Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass

I have watched the new movie of "Alice in Wonderland". I have waited for this movie for quite a while, since it was first told that it will come to the theaters. I never miss Tim Burton movies.

The movie was actually not telling the original story of the book, but a story based upon both the book and its sequel, "Through the Looking Glass". The original "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" was based on a card game and the sequel was based on a chess game. In the movie you can see that the red queen's soldiers are cards, and the white queen's soldiers are chess pieces. Most of the characters were taken from the original book, but Tweedledee and Tweedledum are from the sequel.

The movie is available in 3D, like Avatar. Tim Burton did a Good directing work, and the look of the movie does reference to other Tim Burton movies. This movie also reminded me of "The Chronicles of Narnia", both having human characters coming from "the real world" to a fantasy world, and becoming heroes.

I am lucky to have read "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" before watching the movie. I've read the books a long time ago, but I remembered them. I was expecting to see more characters from the books in the movie, like Humpty Dumpty.

I also think that it's good that 3D movies are starting to be common. Movies in 3D weren't invented with Avatar – I remember watching movies in 3D already in the eighties in unique theaters. The television, the DVD and especially the internet have made the movie makers think hard how to make people go out to the theaters, and that pushed technology forward.

I've heard that 3D televisions exist too, and will be sold in a reasonable price starting from next year (2011). 3D broadcasts and 3D movie DVD's don't seem to me like such a problem. When they will be common, what will be the next step?
