Between Passover and the Holocaust Memorial Day
After the Exodus, when the people of Israel got free of the slavery in Egypt, they traveled 40 years in
the Sinai desert. What for? So the generation would change. The generation which entered the land of
Israel was born free. They knew about the slavery only from stories told by their parents.
The State of Israel was founded only three years after the Second World War ended. The people who
immigrated to the newborn Jewish state were Holocaust survivors. They came to the Promised Land after
experiencing the suffering themselves. The Holocaust is still a living memory.
You and I are lucky to have Holocaust survivors among us. They are living evidence of the mass murder that
was done for no reason at all. Think about it: Six million people murdered for what? Just because they
were Jews! They didn’t endanger anybody. They didn’t stand in anybody’s way. They didn’t even have
terrorist neighbors shooting rockets from their back yards.
The Holocaust Memorial Day will be on Tuesday. If you don’t know any Holocaust survivor, go find one and
listen to his or her story. There are still a few alive.

Thank you for commenting, David. That story I wrote about had some personal impact on me. After surviving all those years of "Hell" that poor old person suffered just yards from home!
