Facebook is all about Sharing

One of the most popular websites today is Facebook. Hundreds of millions of people have Facebook profiles worldwide. In the United States, Facebook is even more popular than Google.

Facebook gives us a big platform to communicate with each other. Does it have any communication method better than talking on the phone, emailing, instant messaging, chatting, blogging, writing in forums, etc.? Actually, no. What does it have, though?

One of the popular parts of Facebook is the news feed, where you can write something, and all your friends can read it. In one click you can update everybody about what you're up to.

There is a complaint about Facebook that your privacy isn't kept in it. Let's make the facts clear: All information you submit to Facebook is saved in a database somewhere on the website's server. Besides your privacy settings which define who of Facebook users can see your information, there are people in Facebook's staff that can access the database. We can only assume that the database is secured, so other people can't access forbidden information.

What does Facebook's staff do with your information? They send you targeted commercial ads. Besides that, I don't know.

Still, I don't think there is a reason to complain about the lack of privacy on Facebook. When you post some information to it, you know that people are going to see that information. Facebook is all about sharing. If you want to tell something to someone privately, email him, call him on the phone, or even meet him face to face.

I use Facebook mainly to promote my blog. I published on Facebook some information about myself, but nothing too personal. I invite you to join my blog's group. Just click here and join. As a member of the group, you will get a message each time I post a new post on my blog, and you can discuss anything on the wall and on the discussions board. The group has 480 members (while writing these lines) and it's constantly growing.
