From Slavery to Freedom
In the past, between the 15th and the 13th centuries B.C., the people of Israel were slaves in Egypt. They
were forced to work hard and to suffer. They were subjected to the craziness of the Pharaohs, which had no
mercy on the slaves.
Eventually, the people of Israel have gone free of the slavery in Egypt, migrated to their own land (then
called Canaan), and started living their lives by their own rules, the Torah, and in freedom.
The people of Israel still live today by the rules of the Torah, now the main part of the Bible, and by
the bible by whole.
Moreover, billions of people around the world are influenced by the Bible, including the Christians and
the Muslims. The Ten Commandments are known and lived by worldwide.
Starting last Wednesday evening, the people of Israel are celebrating Passover, the holiday of freedom,
liberty and spring. The whole world should celebrate this holiday, because humanity would not have been
the same without the freedom of the people of Israel.
