June
In this post I'll tell you a bit about my music.
The piece you're listening to now is called "June".
It was written on June 12, 1999. You probably guess how it has got its name.
"June" is composed as a Blues piece, and was originally played in a 12/8 Blues style.
Musicians can probably recognize the 12-bar structure in this piece.
The current version was recorded a couple of years after the first.
People might ask what new I can do in Blues style.
Certain musicians think Blues is only about 3 cords.
I guess they know little about Blues and what can be done with it.
Its origin goes far back in American history, and it has a great influence in Jazz, Rock and Pop music.
That means Blues is more than about 3 cords and can have various sounds.
I am giving Blues my own interpretation.
Usually I give a little "twitch" to the cord changes.
That may not be necessarily unique, but the other thing is that I like to compose polyphonic music,
and I integrate polyphony with blues. How many examples can you show me for that?
Notice in "June" that the synthesizer and the bass are playing two independent melodies.
Best wishes for June's 9th birthday.
