Michael Jackson
As a musician, involved in the music industry, it's hard to ignore Michael Jackson's death two weeks ago. The coverage of
it by the media was a lot more than enough, so I'll spare you the technical details.
Personally, Michael Jackson was not one of my most favorite artists. I mean, he's good, among others. I have even been to
his concert when he was in Israel on 1993. I have the respect for him for his unique success.
When the accusations against Michael Jackson began, I felt that his music was forgotten by the media, and the talented
musician and performer was replaced by a criminal and a sexual pervert.
Why did the media like to hate Michael Jackson so much? Did they forget his music? Did his music loose its value? Didn't
his popularity mean anything anymore? Didn't he have fans any more?
One of the things that proves Michael Jackson's success, besides breaking a Guinness record in record selling, is that he
was the main inspiration for a whole generation of musicians and artists that became famous themselves since the late
nineties, like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and more.
The media admits today that Michael Jackson is "King of Pop". We know for sure that Jackson still has many loyal fans. How
will he be remembered in the future, if at all? I think that Michael Jackson has got himself a place of honor in the
history of the late 20th century music.
