Red
Giving another twitch to the 12-bar Blues changes, I composed "Red",
thinking of a redhead girl who rode with me constantly on a bus for a few months
some eight or nine years ago. I didn't actually know her –
we came on the bus on different stops and went off the bus in different stops.
We just coincidently took the same bus every morning.
I was still in my time when I would fall in love with a girl who just smiled at me,
yet I was too shy to speak to her.
The most I would do is write her a poem or compose a piece of music and call it after her.
Chances are she didn't know at all about my composition.
The specific redhead was left way in the past, but stayed a symbol of unreachable beauty,
so close but so far. I guess I can really appreciate things when they're hard to get.
