Risk
The First time when I saw you
And I looked in your bright blue eyes -
Did you see?
I was watching you look back at me.
As a start one can’t know
That a love would be so
You do good to a woman.
In my head – the decision is made:
It was you -
Just with you I'll do all I can do.
How much time will it take
Till the love that we will make?
If love at first sight is good for me now,
Makes my life bright,
I will love you now and forever.
Will you tell me that you love me?
Now today we are closer,
And I feel much better now.
Will you say
Will you tell me that we could be friends?
When you talk, when you touch,
When you’re looking at me do you love?
...
May 3rd, 1998. I was serving the army. A new female soldier came to the base that day.
We met by coincidence, and it was one of those moments you never forget –
We just stared one at each other, and time seemed to stop.
She was tall, had bright hair and blue eyes. I had the feeling she was not an ordinary girl.
At the same evening I wrote the song "Loving You Forever" (in Hebrew).
We have spent our breaks together for the next month.
I didn’t admit being in love with her, but everyone was talking about us behind our back.
The gossip was annoying both of us.
At the beginning of June she left the base, and we weren’t in contact any more.
She left the base not just because of the reasons related to me –
she claimed to have all sorts of problems.
When she left I felt I missed her, but I concluded that maybe we weren’t intended to be together.
That incident gave me the inspiration to write and compose "Risk".
I had the Blues; I thought not just about that specific girl, but generally in falling in love,
and actually getting close to the one I love.
...
Since "Risk" wasn’t written to a specific person,
I never minded giving it to a woman to sing. I even preferred a woman singer for this song.
That’s how it sounded to me in my head.
At my first year in Rimon (where I studied music), I met Viviana Gerston –
a wonderful person and a talented singer and musician.
She took part in a dream that came true: recording the song on December 6th, 2004.
"Risk" was published on my official website at
www.davidstern.co.il.
This is a home recording. "Risk" will be produced professionally for my album.
