Stop Funding the Violence!

Stop Funding the Violence! The Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, has been hiring African mercenaries and Ukrainian pilots to reinforce his army and massacre his own people. According to some of the estimations, about ten thousand (10,000!!!) people have been killed in Libya by their own authorities. Get updated with the latest headlines from around the world at www.faceglobal.com/TopNews.

How did Gaddafi get the funding for all the crazy stuff he has been doing? His income comes from crude oil. Crude oil, the material used to produce fuels like gasoline, is produced mainly in dictatorships like Libya. This means that each time you fill the fuel tank in your car in a gas station, you are funding these dictatorships. Yes, you have been funding violence and terror all around the world, just by using your car.

Reducing the use of crude oil and its products will help not only the environment, but also help security and human rights around the world. There are various and easy ways each one of us can do it:
  • Drive a car which consumes less fuel, like a smaller car or a hybrid car. It will also save you money.
  • For short distances, consider walking or riding a bike. It's a money saver and healthy.
  • Use public transportation whenever you can. One bus can replace 50 cars, and a train – a lot more than that. Public transportation is usually cheaper than private transportation.
  • Use the internet. Through the internet you can do and get a lot of things which save you a lot of traveling.
  • Consume less electricity, as electricity is produced in many cases from crude oil. Turn off and unplug electronic devices like lights, TV's and computers while not using them. This too will save you money.
  • Support the use of alternative energy sources for vehicles, electricity, industry, etc. like solar energy, wind energy and so on.
The revolution in the Middle East proves that people can take responsibility for their selves, even in hard conditions. Take responsibility too!
