The History of My Website

The History of My Website

I am connected to the internet since 1997, and very quickly I was "captured in the net". I felt that the internet was invented for me - as a way to find information, find people, express myself, and find my niche in the world.

Soon enough I have got interested in creating a website of my own. As a music composer, the best way to promote my music is through the internet - especially considering the fact that the radio, with all the stations there are, plays a very small fraction of the music ever composed.

My personal website, witch I now call "The Official Website" is on air since December 1999 – it just had its 10th birthday. It has been written then in very basic HTML which I had just started to study on my own. In its first versions, it had a few MIDI files to listen to, a few photographs and an amateurish design.

The website has evolved through the years, and has amassed more and more content. Today, my website includes music in MP3 and WMA format, photographs I took in Israel and around the world and even a few video clips, combining my music and my photography.

On November 2004 I have purchased the domain name for The Official Website, and since then, it can be found at www.davidstern.co.il.

On 2006 I have studied .net (Dot Net) programming, and since the beginning of 2007, my website is written in asp.net, enabling me to create dynamic pages and letting the visitors leave comments.

On 2008 I have bought the domain faceglobal.com. The name hasn't got any special meaning. I was looking for a free domain and it just came up. At the beginning I had no idea what I'm going to do with it. Only a few months later I turned it into this blog. I got to the conclusion that I could promote my music, photography and opinions much better in a blog.

Today the blog has got more than 400 members in its Facebook group, more than 800 followers on Twitter, hundreds of subscribers to its RSS feed, high rankings on Google and a significant presence in websites like YouTube, Digg, Esnips and Qondio.

I hope you find my website and my blog interesting. If so, tell your friends. If not, tell me.

February 7th, 2010.
