The Secret of Man of Steel

So here's another Superman movie coming to the theaters. I haven't seen it yet, but this is what this fact makes me think: The Secret of Man of Steel
  • Hollywood is lacking new original ideas. Okay, so it's not easy coming up with new good ideas often, but recycling the same old characters over and over again gets boring sometimes. Maybe I will enjoy watching this movie, but years later, it will be just another Superman movie.

  • Are alien movies still interesting? Setting aside the fact that the characters are based on Superman, this looks just like another aliens-invading-Earth movie. Why don't they just put Independence Day or Mars Attacks on a rerun?

  • Judging by the trailer, Man of Steel seems darker than previous-movies-Superman. Is this the fashion today? That's how it looks like, considering of the last Batman and Spiderman movies.

  • Movies with too many stars are usually bad. Many good movies have one or two actors who are stars, but not more than that. Movies I've seen that had more than two stars have shown many famous names and faces, but a bad story and a bad direction. Two examples: Mars Attacks and Ocean's 11. Man of Steel has Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Laurence Fishburne and more.

  • I can accept it as a modern remake. If you show the first Superman movie (from 1978) to a child, or even to a teenager, most chances he will be bored. Why? Because that movie looks so old-fashioned in today's standards. It's like watching a movie in black and white, or a silent movie.

  • Just an anecdote: In a review I've read on Metecritic, there's this guy (Guillermo117) who says: "Can't wait to see the sequel!". That made me laugh out loud. I bet he's a teenager who hasn't seen a Superman movie before. Man of Steel is a sequel of sequels. He also mentions an upcoming movie called Justice League, which gathers together a couple of superheroes like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and more. Is Justice League supposed to be a sequel to Man of Steel? Maybe it's a sequel to Batman? I know! It must be a sequel to the Avengers!
