Unnecessary Technologies
I'm not arguing about the following technologies' popularity, but do they really have advantages compared to technologies that existed
before them?
Google Instant
Google's pride is in giving you the most relevant information and sources for the term you are searching for. The search results it gives
you before you finish typing what you're looking for is anything but relevant.
Microblogging (Twitter, etc.)
Honestly, what can you write in 140 characters? A blog post? A short story? An email? Personally, I don't know anybody that uses Twitter
as a main means of content, but only as a promotion tool.
The Segway
The segway's stability system includes a complex combination of gyroscopes, a motor and sensors. For comparison, a bicycle has none of
these and is as stable as a segway. You can take a folding bike with you on a bus, a train, etc. The same can be said about the classic
or motorized scooter.
All in one machines
A fax that is also a photocopier and a scanner, for example, is the lousiest machine I have ever seen. It photocopies very slowly compared
to a real photocopier, and you can't receive a fax in the same time. Besides, if the machine breaks down, you're left with no fax, no
photocopier and no scanner. A third generation phone is another example. It's not fun watching TV in the phone's tiny screen. It's
frustrating to browse the internet without a decent screen, mouse and keyboard.
The Tablet Computer (Ipad, etc.)
Can anyone tell me what can I possibly do with a Tablet Computer that I can't do with a regular laptop? Does it have any unique
functionalities? Is it easier to carry?
Electric Vehicles
A lot has been said about electric vehicles and whether they can replace air polluting fuel based vehicles. When you charge your electric
vehicle, what is your source of power? If it is a charcoal based power plant, then you're not saving the environment in any way. The
power plant is polluting the air instead of your car.
HD Phones
HD TV screens are blessed, especially when they make a difference in big TV screens. The question is what difference does HD make in the
tiny screens on cellular phones? Would you really enjoy sitting back and watching it?
