Why you should consider supporting Mubarak's regime in Egypt
For over a week there have been riots in Egypt against Hosni Mubarak's regime. Hosni Mubarak has been dictating Egypt since 1981, and is leading what was until recently the most stabilized regime in the Middle East. The people of Egypt demand democracy. Why, then, support him?
- Hosni Mubarak is a relatively moderate leader. The USA and European countries have supported him, and he kept and honored the peace agreement with Israel.
- No country turns into democracy in one day. Democratization takes time. In the meantime, Mubarak's regime is strong and stable.
- The Egyptian people haven't suggested a decent alternative for Mubarak.
- The main existing alternative for Hosni Mubarak's regime is the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, a radical Islamist group that believes that Islam law should rule and that the western civilization is in decline. The Muslim Brotherhood is dangerous for the western civilization because it supports all what the west is against: fascism, jihad (holy war against non Muslims), slavery, social inequality, etc.
- Mubarak's regime opposes the Iranian regime, similarly to the western world. The west needs Egypt as an ally within the Middle East, in order to fight Iran's support in world terror and goal to have a nuclear weapon. If the Muslim Brotherhood takes over Egypt, it would ally with Iran and make the confrontation with the Evil Axis even tougher than it is today.
- Hamas, a terror organization supported by Iran which is ruling Gaza Strip, is an enemy of both countries bordering Gaza: Egypt and Israel. Hamas also terrorizes the people of Gaza. If the regime in Egypt becomes unstable or Islamist, it will catalyze weapon smuggling into Gaza Strip, and make the whole area unstable.
Don't get me wrong: I do believe that the Egyptian people should have a better life, with human rights, democracy and wealth; but I doubt whether the events in Egypt today will help them.
